The Content Framework in Action: How One Reel Tells the Whole Story

By: CHU Photographs

Last week I talked about staying open to change and chasing opportunity — and I promised I'd get into the tactical side of things this week. Specifically, how SEO, content marketing, and conversion actually work together as one system instead of three separate things you're juggling at once.

So let me show you instead of just telling you.

This past week I finished editing a graduation session I did at my old stomping grounds: Kent State University. After editing, I took the champagne photos from the shoot and ran them through the Instagram Edits app — and what came out of that is exactly the kind of content I've been building CHU's strategy around.

The idea was simple: a flipbook-style reel. Fast, quick-cut edits made up of individual photographs that, when you watch the whole thing, feel like one continuous video. A lot of creators are doing this right now because it solves a real problem — Instagram limits how many photos you can show in a single post, but a reel like this lets you showcase an entire session in under 30 seconds. The fast-changing images keep people watching, which tells the algorithm the content is worth pushing. More watch time, more reach, more eyes on your work.

But here's where the strategy piece comes in.

That reel isn't just a cool video. It's doing three things at once. It's keeping my current audience engaged with something visually different from a standard post. It's reaching a new audience because the format is trending and the algorithm rewards it. And it's adding variety to my grid — which matters more than most people realize. A profile that only posts one type of content plateaus. Visual diversity is what keeps people scrolling when they land on your page for the first time.

This is what I mean when I say the blog, the newsletter, and the social strategy are connected by design. The shoot happens. The content gets created with intention. The reel serves the algorithm. The blog breaks down the why. The newsletter ties it all together. Each piece feeds the next.

That's the machine. And this week you got to see one of the gears turning.

The full reel is linked in this week's newsletter — go watch it and you'll see exactly what I'm describing!
